17-Year-Old Girl Shot Near Newark High School: Police

A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was shot near a high school in Newark on the early morning of Tuesday, April 30, authorities said.

At 12:18 a.m., police responded to the 200 block of 14th Avenue at South 15 Street, near West High School, and found the gunshot victim, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, Frage said.

The shooting remains under investigation, Frage said.
